Our Approach

We Give our Horses the Time Necessary to Develop. My Drive comes from the Love of the Business and the Reward in return for Care given to such Wonderful Animals.

Our Story

My name is Brett F. St. Amand born in Wyandotte, Michigan in 1963. Having moved to Florida in 1969.

I grew up in the Ocala area in the 1970's while living at Rodeheaver's Boys Ranch near Palatka. While growing up on the ranch I learned about Thoroughbreds as I raised two weanlings to yearlings and sold them at Ocala Breeders. I also worked at various farms in the 1970's as well.

After High school I joined the U.S. Army and in 2002 retired with 20 years service in Logistics with 14 years of that with the National Guard. I started a Thoroughbred Consulting business and developed the experience needed to be successful.

1st Cav Racing, LLC was formed from a Idea that started over 10 years ago to form racing partnerships with the intent to build a successful operation based on Honesty and Integrity. To do this you need to bring in partners on young developing horses based on providing small percentages of ownership. I have noticed over the last 10 years that partnerships lacked the friendship part as well as a hands-on approach to bringing in New Owners.

I have noticed when you go out in public and talk to people most know little about this wonderful business. Most people I meet think more of the gambling side and have little education about the Thoroughbred business end and the family environment that can be created from joining people in this "Sport of Kings" for everyday people.
